Risk: The characters took a lot of risks in this film and never second-guessed their decisions. Targeting: Billboards are typically used to reach a broad audience however, in this film, the messages were targeted at a particular individual and that's what drew everyone's attention. Brilliant!Ĥ. Simplicity: Three billboards with three simple, yet effective, messages. Sometimes less is more and in this case, it was all that was needed to deliver a powerful message.ģ. Passion: The main character was passionate about her cause. She remained focused and driven to achieving results, regardless of the challenges she faced.Ģ.

The opinions expressed here are my personal opinions and not necessarily those of my employer.Īs a marketing professional, I'll admit I was intrigued when a heard about a film called, "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri". There was buzz about award-winning performances and some controversy over racism in the film, but by that time, I had already decided to go see it. Since I don't go to the cinema much, watching this film on the big screen was truly powerful. It didn't take long for me to understand where all the criticism came from, as I was shocked by the language, the behavior, and the dysfunctional family relationships. However, by the end of the movie, I vowed to see it again.and I did, renting it at home for my husband and college-aged son. And they had the same reaction.a bit of shock until they got into the story. So, I'm no movie critic, but I did find a few marketing lessons in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri:ġ.
